Description The Kugelbake (Ball Beacon) is the landmark of the town of Cuxhaven. In earlier times, it served as an orientation aid for seafarers. In the Middle Ages, the word “beacon” was used to describe a sea mark. It indicates where the Elbe ends and the North Sea begins. Today, the Kugelbake is still a popular excursion destination for tourists and marks the northernmost point of Lower Saxony.
